Tabaqui’s healed. I’m to keep using the potions and the salve for a while, just to be sure, but she’s better. And I stole that experience from her. I felt it, at the end, the Earthmother’s blessing. She should have; she’s the one who deserves it.

Ripples in the Pond

Right before her hand touched the grinning stone, she froze, remembering why it had been that she hadn’t selected this door the first time. “Has what’s beyond it changed?” she asked.

“What do you mean, childe?” the voice replied, in a tone that hinted the answer was already known.

“Beyond this door lay eternal peace,” she said, “but not only for myself. Has that changed?”
