Shadows may be the other side of the Light, but they are not the opposite of it. Darkness is the opposite of Light: it exists only in the absence of it. Shadows exist only in the presence of the Light. They are the children of the Light, birthed only when it strikes an object, or a being.

As compassion is one of the most difficult and dangerous virtues, so too is callousness. Where too much compassion can weaken or damage another's connection to the whole, an entirely callous nature can damage your own.

(( In which I start using my own antonyms for the tennents. If you're looking for a source on this, I got nothing. Not even a sense of where I'm going, or what exactly I mean, come to think of it >< ))

Each and every person connects to the whole in their own means and on their own terms. The individual's connection is fundamental, and an individual responsibility.

How then, do you manage to maintain your own connection, and yet understand that what you deem respectful may be insulting or damaging to another? Even a blessing of the Light, while respectful to one, may be an offence to another.

Worship of the Light is belief not in any being, but in a philosophy that helps direct the choices and actions you make every day. It is a belief grounded in your personal connection to the world around you.


Each and every one of us is connected to the whole, and through that whole to all other individuals. Actions that diminish ourselves or others diminish the whole; actions which benefit ourselves or other improve the whole. Followers of the Light seek to improve the whole, through and resulting in the improvement of the self.

Compassion is the last virtue. Balance is required in practicing compassion. You cannot give too much too freely, for you will diminish your own connection to the Light, or that of others which may in turn diminish yours as well. You cannot withhold too much, or do the same.

Any goal takes dedication in the face of oppressive forces. Adherence to the Light is no exception. It takes study, practice, and devotion over many years to truly follow the Light. It is facing obstacles, and overcoming them.

The exploration of your personal connection with the universe apparently begins with respect. Just as you are connected to the universe, so too is every other being. Damaging, destroying, or decreasing another being's connection to the universe is not serving the well-being of the whole. Acting against the whole is self-damaging, as you are connected to it.
