Some things, just come easy, like breathing, they're done without ever needing her to stop, think about it. Shadows are like that for her. Shaping them, making them take a particular form, that's what she learned from the trainers. But calling them? That she just, did.
So she's slowing it down, concentrating, listening, feeling, trying to track it back, pay attention to where that power comes from before she lefts it fly and the raptor screams in anger. It isn't really until the thing is charging towards her that she realizes that slow isn't exactly an option once she's caught its attention. This time, it's fast drawn upon and released on instinct, and Keir gets to the raptor just as it falls.
