It was just an itsy little oversight.

In the shape of a not-so-itsy little brother.

I was only gone two weeks! After not being gone for, well, a hundred years, but still! And all right, I didn't say what I was going to do, because I really didn't need to listen to his comments about the new procedures. (They didn't fail as often as he thinks, and of course he'd remember the handful of times people, well, died.)

Besides, I really haven't figured out how to handle this side of things. I mean, the other side is hard enough, and they knew that I wasn't in the right body, so a different one isn't too far of a leap. But really, short of saying I went crazy, changed my name and became a priest, how do I make this make sense to the other side? Although, I suppose the whole death, awe thing probably lead him to the crazy conclusion anyway.

At least he and Tabaqui started to get along at the end there. I know Uzil was worried about Nenuial, but it was really hard watching him and Iphis face off like that. Sort of like having your in-laws bicker, only I haven't gotten married. Not exactly. Oh, that's an odd thought.

Anyway, I've been hiding, and I know it. It's the same thing I did after Sakti died and I didn't want to go back to see what Johaan needed. Exactly the same, actually, as I'm back running errands in Duotaur and trying to re-gain the trust people had in me. Of course, it didn't exactly end well the last time, so I suppose it's not a surprise to see that it hasn't been working well this time.

Iphis is suspicious, at the very least. I can't tell if he was joking when he asked where his sister was. I'm not that different!

Am I?

Anyway, this can wait. I need to see if Uzil has found Nenuial yet, and pay a visit to some cemeteries. I know there's a lot of stones to look through now, and likely a lot of damage regardless. But like I told Uzil, death isn't always restful, and some of us are restless during it.
