The Reason of the Thing

shosenThere are no coincidences. Now, don’t get me wrong. I ain’t sayin’ we’re all runnin’ towards an unchangeable outcome like herded cattle. That ain’t it at all. But there are forces and spirits that nudge our paths in certain directions and towards certain people. Connections are made, and some of those tie ya up so tight ya can’t help but find ‘em again, for good or for ill.
That’s what happened, ya crazy bastard. Forgot ta tell us ya’d touched the spirit of one of ‘em before. I hear ya whisperin’ now, so full of perverse glee for the control ya had over others, but in the end ya couldn’t control this. Now I’m left ta clean up the mess ‘cause ya tried ta control one ya couldn’t, and he ain’t never cared ta fix his mistakes.
Not quite sure how I’m gonna fix this one though. Took the three of us with some help ta start it, and I ain’t goin’ back ta those bastards ever again.
And the poor childe sees it now. She can’t stay like this.
