Jun. 7th, 2006 03:02 pmIn my mother’s view, you keep your secrets to yourself and collect the secrets of others for later use. Nothing should be shared without due consideration, and you should never admit to anything that implies impropriety.
In my father’s view, you keep things to yourself, because sharing is painful. It brings your own heartaches to the surface, and generally ends in a fight with the one who causes those aches, and the fights never lead to anything good. It’s just better for everyone to hold your own.
