Diary: Page Nine
Apr. 12th, 2006 08:30 pmThree days in Thunder Bluff, three days to ascertain a simple truth: I can never live there. I had been wrong, however; it wasn’t because I would not be accepted. None of my class instructs in Thunder Bluff. Since I learned this it always seemed, rude or disrespectful to be in that city with a demon.
I am no longer comfortable without one at my side.
It never concerned me much, how I would be perceived by others for walking this path. In fact, for a long time the barely heard remarks and glares tossed Pagtuk’s way merely confused me. My blindness shows itself in the most important areas, it seems.
These demons are my friends, my guardians, my weapons; I never saw their use as more dangerous than wielding a sword, and certainly less dangerous than professions of faith. That apparently is not the predominant perception, and it took the Nether Theory class and this short stay among the Tauren for me to see that.
And to see that the only place I will ever truly be accepted is the Undercity, where everyone is held in equal suspicion. We are not refused entrance there, nor hidden in isolated little tents. Our summoning circles are open, as proudly displayed as the warrior’s practice and the healer’s aid. We stand side-by-side with the magi, not kept away on our own. Whatever I do, however I extract myself should I choose to, I cannot afford to be exiled from this place.
Yet, after making my obligatory visit to the Apothcarium, I still flew to Hammerfall and elected to remain there tonight.
