There is more than one path to any objective. Some are more difficult than others. Some are impossible for one person, and no more difficult than breathing for another. Not all paths are suited to all people.
Holding fast to the impossible path does nothing more than severe the connection of the individual to the whole.
Lenience allows for the impossible path to be abandoned in favour of an alternate path to success. While it does not excuse the personal responsibility for the choice of the first path, it provides the flexibility required for the individual to seek other options.
Tenacity is as much a folly as a virtue if the original path and goal were incorrectly chosen.
