Broken Chains

Change descends, sudden, unexpected, welcome or unwelcome?  I cannot say.

For a moment, everything is chaos, lost.  Old forces and new play together.

The now accustomed echoes silenced by warm drums of flame, soothing familiar shadows, and searing wretched light.

Here, I am alone again within myself, and whole.

And yet, I am not free.
